One Destination Opens A World of Opportunity

Gatwick Airport – Construction

Senior Project Manager – Northern Runway

Salary:  £Competitve, plus additional benefits including car allowance, generous bonus, family medical insurance and other great benefits

The Opportunity

With Gatwick Airport changing at an outstanding pace we currently have an interesting and exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager responsible for our Northern Runway programme to be part of a high performing team building Gatwick's future infrastructure.

The Programme

A pivotal role, you will  be responsible for leading the early stage delivery planning on our Northern Runway programme of works - a significant (£1Bn+), strategically important programme that will be delivered within the live airport operational environment.

Much of our work has to take place during small windows of time at night and we have to go into very detailed and meticulous phases of planning to ensure we can hand back to Airside Ops every day without compromise.

The Role

In this varied role, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the project team, ensuring a coherent DCO-Design-Build-Operate approach to the Northern Runway scheme, leading and managing the project team in the early design, cost development and construction delivery planning of the scheme, driving a cost optimisation approach through early stage value engineering.

Naturally, strong communication and presentation skills are needed to successfully engage with senior/exec levels of the business and airlines.

Do you have the strengths and behaviours required for this role?

  • Do you have previous experience in the planning and delivery of major civil engineering construction projects?
  • Are you educated to Degree level or equivalent in programme management, architecture, engineering, or construction related field?  - Civil Engineering highly desirable.
  • Are you a practitioner level in project management (e.g. APMP Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2 Practitioner)? - Chartered Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (or equivalent) highly desirable.
  • Are you able to motivate, influence and manage project teams in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of the projects to achieve desired business outcomes?
  • Can you drive the development and maintenance of a culture of world class health, safety, and environmental standards across the project and its associated contractors to deliver the highest levels of health, safety and environmental performance achievable?
  • Have you managed the identification and mitigation of risks that may adversely impact project delivery and embedded remedial processes and practice in place with both clients and contractors?
  • Are you an inspirational leader? Do you have experience of developing project teams - setting standards, manage, motivating, coaching and mentoring team members?

If  you can answer yes, we would encourage you to review all of the skills and experience required to be a Senior Project Manager at Gatwick Airport in the attached role profile.
