IT Business Analyst / Solution Partner

The position is available to a candidate who is proactive, energetic and innovative. This role will develop products, systems and services for our internal customers to change the industry.

The role takes on the gathering and shaping of IT solutions to ideas for a business area and acts as a contact point. It has 3 distinct roles to perform. Firstly, relationship management with the assigned business area Heads of Department and Team Managers. Secondly Business Analysis on behalf of the Business area and thirdly, a trusted advisor to the Business representatives and subject matter expert in the relevant IT services, ensuring that the IT strategy is aligned to Business strategy.

 

Principal accountabilities

  • Business Relationship Management
    • Support the communications between IT and key business stakeholders, including Director and Head Of level staff
    • Act as single point of IT contact for the Business area, for escalations for incidents that break SLA for Business area as well as any new rollout of systems or IT policies affecting the Business area
    • Anticipate future business need and propose IT solutions that can add value for the Business area whilst challenging the demands that do not.
    • Actively monitor and research market trends and technological innovation to positively influence the business strategy
  • Business Analysis
    • Focus on the analysis and understanding of business operations, system design and reporting. Understanding of technology systems is paramount and being able to translate this to the business is key.
    • Understand the business landscape, working with functional and non-functional requirements through facilitated group sessions, consulting with business users on various business issues, to understand their objectives, processes and requirements and writing business requirements and change requests.
    • Managing scope and change that relate back to the FR's and NFRs and ensuring the relevant change governance is followed, by both the Business and IT.
    • Facilitate and sometimes lead on communication with the technical, data migration, test and training teams.
    • Accountable for ensuring the business outcomes are delivered.
  • Business Consultancy
    • Act as the subject matter expert supporting the business in maximising productivity and efficiency through the use of existing and new IT services.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Essential
    • Excellent communications skills; able to build relationships at all business levels and able to clearly articulate IT topics to a non-IT audience
    • Experience of delivering a first class customer service experience across the service delivery function
    • Demonstrates creativity in identifying opportunities and finding solutions
    • Experience in large scale projects related Engineering and Software implementation
    • Very strong experience in technical business analysis
    • Experience in analysis large quantities of data and/or documentation
    • Business focused but with an IT background
    • Experience in structured Business Analysis methodologies such as BPM
    • Experience of analysing reporting requirements and dashboarding
    • Supporting Testing Teams on requirements and test definitions
    • Experience with business user or external client management, communication, negotiation and facilitation skills
    • Experience with process mapping tools and packages
    • Experience of the aviation industry and aviation solutions is preferable
  • Desirable
    • Good knowledge of Prince2
