Engineering Manager – Shuttle & LSCA

The Engineering team deliver what matters. They protect, maintain, and repair our infrastructure. From the electricity that powers this place. Giant plant rooms that heat and cool the airport. To the specialist equipment on the airfield too!
What is the role?
The Engineering Managers core purpose of this role is to deliver a safe, efficient and resilient Shuttle, Life Safety, Controls & Automation asset base. Ensuring that the Shuttle delivers to the core service standard and is maintained & operated in line with ROGS. Responsible for compliance of the life safety systems across the whole airport in line with the regulatory reform (fire safety) order and BS 9999: Code of Practice for Fire Safety.
What will you do?
- Lead and develop Shuttle & LSCA engineering teams of highly skilled Technicians to deliver objectives and meet departmental targets.
- Ensure optimal performance of asset base including performance improvements to improve system availability.
- Drive EH&S culture across all teams to reduce incidents & promote a safe working environment.
- Produces effective communication and reports to all stakeholders including other GAL departments, airlines and retailers.
- Management of cost and contract management to ensure operational budget is met.
- Accountable for ensuring their departments planned and corrective work is always completed on time, to a high standard with minimal impact to the operation.
Do you have what we're looking for?
- Experience in leading a team in an Engineering environment focusing on innovation and operational excellence.
- Proven knowledge & understanding of working with unions and employee relations engagement.
- Commercially balanced - value: cost, process and people.
- Strong understanding and proven experience in a relevant engineering discipline
- Good working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and regulatory and statutory compliance (e.g. electrical, confined spaces, hot works, etc.)
- Experience of working with a CMMS and asset management processes including planning, KPIs (including CSS), PDRs, and asset management/replacement
- Educated to HNC level or relevant experience
